We are living longer—but not always better. 

Many of us are living on borrowed energy. We drag ourselves through the day, wake up tired, and tell ourselves we'll "catch up on sleep" at the weekend.

At the same time, we're facing rising levels of chronic disease: heart disease, diabetes, mental health challenges and more. These conditions develop over years, shaped by everyday behaviours like sleep, stress, movement, nutrition, connection and substance use.

The good news is that these are modifiable. By making realistic, evidence-based changes to how we live, we can improve not only how long we live, but how well we live those years.

Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based approach that looks at the lifestyle-related factors behind chronic disease and addresses them directly.

At Éistim Coaching, we combine lifestyle medicine with positive psychology and coaching. That means we focus on:

  • The behaviours that influence your health (sleep, stress, movement, food).
  • The mindset and support you need to make changes that actually last.

Our starting point is often sleep and energy, because when you're better rested, everything else becomes more possible.

We're a good fit if you:

  • Wake tired, rely on caffeine to get through the day, or feel "wired and tired" at night.

  • Feel stretched, overwhelmed or stuck when it comes to your health and daily habits.

How I work

The framework I trained in. The lens I bring to it.

My training in positive health coaching at RCSI Dublin combines three established disciplines: lifestyle medicine, positive psychology and coaching. That's the framework — and it's the same framework you would get from any well-trained positive health coach.

What I bring on top of that — the part that's specifically mine — is two decades of clinical and corporate experience most coaches don't have.

  • A PhD in pharmacology from Cambridge (medications, supplements, physiology).
  • A decade as a pharma and IP lawyer in the City (knows what high-pressure careers do to evenings, sleep, relationships).
  • Mother of three (lived experience, not theory).

The disciplines are the science. The lens is what makes the coaching useful to you.

Coaching

A structured, reflective process that turns insight into action. You already know most of what you "should" do — coaching is what makes it actually stick.

Sleep is the keystone. Fix sleep first and almost everything else gets easier.

My pharmacology background means I can speak credibly about the medications, supplements and over-the-counter products people quietly rely on.

 Hello.

I'm Shauna Garvey, a positive health coach for parents and professionals.

I came to coaching the long way round. I studied pharmacology, physiology and psychology at UCD, then completed my PhD in pharmacology at Cambridge, focusing on the neuroscience of feeding. I went on to qualify in law at BPP and practised as an IP and pharma lawyer in London for about a decade. After my third child I trained as a coach (Cambridge again) and completed my Master's in Positive Health Coaching at RCSI Dublin.

That's a lot of letters. The short version: I've spent more than twenty years studying how the body, the mind and human behaviour actually work — and I've lived the reality of long hours, heavy workloads, school runs and broken sleep. I know how much noise there is out there about health. I'm here to help you cut through it.

Personalised one-to-one positive health coaching, online — for parents and professionals.

Three stages:

  • Stage 1 — Introductory Consultation. 30 minutes, €75.
  • Stage 2 — Co-creation of Health Plan. 90 minutes, €225.
  • Stage 3 — Implementation Sessions. 60 minutes, €150.

All sessions delivered privately online. Each booked individually.
